Greenwood, SC (USA), 12 September 2018 – As part of an ongoing investment program to enhance production of Lonza's specialty ingredients and dosage form technologies, the company announced earlier this year plans to expand its current manufacturing operations in Greenwood, SC (USA). Today construction work began with a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony.
Adding approximately 50,000 square feet of new manufacturing space, the new facility is due to open in mid-year 2019 and is expected to create about 30 new jobs in Greenwood County.
The ceremony in Greenwood was attended today by representatives of the company, including Sven Abend, Chief Operating Officer, Lonza Specialty Ingredients; Erasmo Schutzer, President, Lonza Consumer Health; and Patrick Loosen, Head of Global Operations, Lonza Specialty Ingredients. Also in attendance were Senator Mike Gambrell and other community leaders. Governor Henry McMaster made remarks in a video message that was played at the ceremony.
"Today's event represented much more than breaking ground," Sven Abend explained. "Today's groundbreaking demonstrates Lonza's continued commitment to providing high-quality products and services to our customers around the world. It is also a significant milestone in our journey with Capsugel to become an integrated, end-to-end solutions provider."
